Power Window Failure... HELP! 700 1985

When I first got my 740 GLE, and the power windows were really slow. Soon, the windows stopped working all together. After consulting a local mechanic, I took the housing off of the wire bundle going from the body into the drivers door. Sure enough, there was a broken wire. I soldered it back together, and the Windows and Central locking system started working again! The windows were working faster and the Central locks are nice. About a week later the Central locking system stopped unlocking the trunk, then stopped working all together, and so did the windows. Next step was to unwrap the wire bundle again, but the wire was still intacked. I then took apart the door, and cannot find anything visibly wrong with the system. I have also cleaned the switches, so it is not that. If anyone has any suggestions, I need to roll down my windows.

Re: Power Window Failure... HELP! 700 1985

My initial take was bad window switches...I wouldn't have gone after a wire unless I had taken off the door trim and tested for voltage at the window motors.

But it looks like that is what you'll have to do now...then you'll be able to tell where the break is.

I checked all of the voltage in the driver's door... and it is all powered up. I don't know what it could be now.
