Check egine lite reset or is there a problem 900 1993

I have a 940 turbo 93. The check engine lite has come on. I do not know if it is the O2 sensor for miles like my 240 or when checking archives, One was mentioned about just reseting it for brake dust.

Has anyone got any suggestions for this 93. Would like to know if I have a problem or not.

Thanks

Roy

see the FAQ on reading the IDU for codes.

What I usually do is reset the IDU and run the engine and see if it resets the same codes which gives you an idea of what to test. It wouldn't be unusual for a 93 to need an O2 sensor...my 90 needed one in 96 with only 60K miles on it....but mileage isn't the reason to change out an O2 sensor nothwithstanding Bosch commercials....test the O2 sensor (probe it with a DVOM...covered in the FAQ).

What I forgot to say in the last post is the code ended up 1-1-3. Which is Fuel trim/lambda control. to lean or rich.

Like I said in the last post. I reset it and it has not come back on but I have just driven it 30 miles. I am getting this surging when it is cold. Since I do not know the history on this car. I may just go ahead and change the fuel filter. Do you have any other suggestions? I have not tested the O2 sensor as yet. Not sure if that is the problem or not.

If you have any more suggestions I certainly would appreciate it. This car does have 92K on it. (93 940 turbo)

      Thanks

      Roy

I did like you suggested and reset the computer and it has not come back on yet. Maybe I will get lucky. I have oticed the last few times that I have driven it that the turbo boost gage is going up and down when it is cold. I am not sure if the engine is hunting or what. On my 245 84. That problem was a mass air sensor. So for, I have just driven it 30 miles since I reset the computer. Time will tell on this one I guess. The hunting or surging on the engine is something that might be a problem. I was just reading on stuff on here that lean or rich. One guy found that a restricted fuel filter was causing the problem too.

I have not tested the O2 sensor yet. If is goes off again I will check that out. The car has 92K on it. Just got it this summer and I have no history on it whatsoever.

      Thanks

      Roy
