Hi Rene;
It's easy don't paint them, The salt simply gets behind it and starts to
work off the paint, My best results painting all rotors were as follows
sand blast the entire surface, clean them with brake cleaner then 2 light
coats of High temp primer (red oxide) Then find the highest temp arosol
you can find and coat lightly at least 3 coats,when fully dry have them
turned . I've also done my calipers this way,but I had the rebuild shop
strip and blast them, then I painted and retuned them for finishing.
Rotors looked ok for two winters of TORONTO north Driving then they
looked crappy after that,Calipers held out much longer !
In retrospect I would not do it Again !!It's a lot of "F'n Work !
I replaced the rotors, with 4 Cross Drilled CADNIUM PLATED Units from
KVR out of OTTAWA had them in 3 days and they've held up nicely and
the gold colour does not chip or peel, and if your on a budget or just plain cheap, it still came to my door for less than Volvo O.E. stuff.
Fronts were Brembo and rears were Eurorotor.
So it's easy don't paint them.
