Could It Be? 59K Original Miles? 200 90

If anyone's interested (I'm not because I need a wagon), I saw an ad today for a '90 240, original owner, 59k original miles (so they say). They want $6500, and it's in Southern Jersey.

If anyone's interested, go to appclassifieds.com, click on automotive and search on Volvo.

If it's the real thing, I would hoe it goes to someone who would appreciate it!

Re: Could It Be? 59K Original Miles? 200 90

it can be true, I have a 68 120 series in the driveway (used to be my mother's car) with only 60,000 miles. She bought it from the sterotypical old lady who just drove it to church and to get groceries (what do you know they actually do exist).

Re: Could It Be? 59K Original Miles? 200 90

And my 1968 144 with 140k miles. Not quote the same as 60k, but

then again for a 68, both are quite exceptional.

I think my car sat in a salvage yard for the 1980s; the seat belts

are bleached as though they sat in one place for a very long time.

My 1970 164 has only 170k miles.

Low milage cars many decades old do exist. And I've come to the

conclusion that they are much better than high milage cars of the

same vintage.

It can happen! 700 90

Believe it or not, I've got a 1990 740 Turbo Sedan with only 47k original miles on it.

Wow, you can pass that one on to your grandchildren!

There was an '88 244 GL w/67K miles that just sold on ebay for $6200. 67K miles over 13 years is only 5150 miles per year. After 38 years at that rate, it still wouldn't have 200K miles on it!

Re: Could It Be? 59K Original Miles? 200 1988

My 88 sedan indicates 177k, but I have an 89 engine with only 60K on it! I wonder if I could get $6200??? I saw that car on ebay and realized it was the "old retired guy" car I have been looking for in Ohio for the last ten years! Those cars do exist, but you have to get an inside jump on them to be the first in line!

Re: Could It Be? 64K Original Miles? 200 1982

I just recently bought an 82 (64k miles) from "an old professor guy" who walked to campus a lot. It's like reliving my youth - only this time around I really enjoy it (I'm 45 but have had 4 teenagers, with 2 more on the way). This is my new hobby.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does anyone have the original instructions for installing a cruise control in a 240 of this vintage (B21F engine, M46 (4spd + OD)tranny)? I've got the parts but need some guidance.

2. The brick starts fine when it's cold (not often in NV) but is real hesitant to start in warm weather. Any ideas?

Mileage that low is possible. A buddy of mine bought a 91 Firebird Formula last year that had less than 50k miles. I guess some people just leave their cars in the garage.

Re: Could It Be? 59K Original Miles? 200 90

Could be. The wife puts 5000 per year on the 245 ('91 w/ 65,000 but we are not original owners) so with a projected life of 250,000 easy, the car is good for 38-40 more years. That will be some sticker shock in 2040. Maybe I'll keep it or maybe look for a "newer" 93.
