Code 241, port 6. 200 1991

I found in the archives, March 24,1997, that the code was an EGR fault. Is the EGR controller in the same location for a 240 as a 740? I tried to clear the code using the reset button but the check engine light stays on. I then removed the battery clamps and did a "hard" reset. That cleared the code and reset the light. In two hours of driving it has not come back on. Any help in trouble shooting 240 EGR systems is appreciated.

Thanks, Steve M.

Steve

I can not answer your question but I did find out something my self this afternoon. I have a 940 93. It would not reset. What I missed was let it go through 2 cycles of showing you the code. Then press the buttom for the 5 or seconds when the red light come on again. You have to put the button aagain right away. That clears the computer

Re: Code 241, port 6. 200 1991

I just had this code in my 1995 940: it kept recurring until I replaced the EGR temperature sensor. My 1990 740 has an earlier EGR without the temp sensor sticking out the side. Try deoxidizing and cleaning electrical contacts, then seal with dielectric grease. If it does not recur, you've solved it. If it does, there is a checklist for EGR tests which I could probably dig out.

Steve,

Contacts look nice and clean. I would be interested to see your EGR checklist.

Thanks,

Steve M.
