AF30-Halmeter and Oxygen sensor-End of story, final success! 700 1988

Brian I finished at work six a clock this morning and decided before i went to bed to change the green wire with that one I picked up from the junkyard.I started up the engine and measured on the signal wire in the engine compartment and got this fluctuating measures (at last, thanks God)between 0,2-0,7volt.Hocked up the Halmeter and it read like it should do.I must have shorted the old green wire and thats why I didnt get the right measures. The cause I bought this Halmeter is that I have bought a 531-head with modifications (not extreme) and a SAM1-camshaft from SAM Steffansson and those things will be put on in the spring next year, then I hopefully will get little bit more powder from the engine (but I must say the car is real powerfull already now but I want to have a bit unusual 740 GL).I wanted to see if it will be some changes in the fuelmix before and after the change.Well thanks again! (hopefully I dont have to use this forum again-I meen I dont want any more problems but in such case this will be the place I turn to)

Mikael

Congratulations! You are now the new O2 sensor and Halmeter expert!

Let us know how the new cam works when you put it in.

I have a question for you:

Do the 240's in Sweden have the headlight wipers? Do you know if they are the same as the 700's? Now that the winter is here I would like to put them on my 240 instead of cleaning them every night. (And for an 'unusual' 240.)

I have the large factory Cibie 2-light system, and the headlights have three raised bumps on the face - for alignment purposes I believe. Would I have to grind those off or would the wipers pass over them without getting torn up?

Thanks, and good luck with the cam!

Re: Brian about the headlight wipers. 700 1988

Yes, the 240`s does have the headlight wipers at least my fathers 88 240 GL and I think all the way to 93 model. But if I remember it right the wipers is longer on 240`s then on my 740.The headlights are not the same on 240`s and 740`s but You know that already. But thats not a problem it must be the same thing to hook up a wiper on a 240 as on a 740.The rest of the things behind the headlights, motors and the cables the fluid runs through must be same princip. If You have a 90 You dont have those two rectangulars lights in one headlight (USA-lights as we say in Sweden, very popular that young people put them on instead of our one light headlight system, they think the car look better with them) I suppose, strange that You dont have headlight wipers in such case.I dont recognice those three raised bumps as You mention, but I have seen some pictures on 90`s and later USA-models of 240`s and the headlights on them seems to be much the same as ours in Sweden and if so You should be able to put wipers on, but I can have wrong there. You dont have a Volvo shop around there who can help You and where You can buy the things You need to install it.

Mikael
