speedometer gear ratio 140-160 1973

Hi,

I've got a 1973 145 in which I just installed an overdrive. I left the original rear end on the car and now my speedometer/odometer readings are low by about 10% at highway speed. I asked ipd if there's a replacement for the gear at the end of the speedometer cable to change the ratio but they don't seem to make one. Is there any way to fix this problem?

David --

Grab the speedo driven gear from the original tranny and see if you can transplant it into the OD. If not, at least count the teeth and ask the dealer for a gear that fits your OD with the same number of teeth as your original gear.

The "driven" gear is the one that engages the cable.
