Rear pop out side windows?? 140-160 72

Was given a 145 parts car which has cargo area pop out windows (same hinges as the 142 but the window that pops out is much smaller). I've never seen these before (only part of my life spent under a rock). Are they worth putting onto my "in the process of sprucin' up" 145?

Anyone have info on them. Thank you! Dennis

If you have the later 145 with the one peice windows then it would be hard to add the two peice type. That center divider is part of the body, not a bolt in add on.

If you insist on trying it it would be posable to cut tha section out and weld it in a newer body, but it might be easier and neater to just rebuild the parts car with your parts.

For the record I feel like the later style looks a lot neater and cleaner, but I sure like the airflow with the vent windows.

If you give up on the idea let me know. My '69 145 got severly smacked in the right quarter panel and even though I was able to transplant a'76 panel I had to make do with plexiglass for the side windows.

The two piece windows were on the early wagons through 1970. I kinda wish I had 'em on mine, but mine is too new (Feb, 1971).

They do look cool, and would surely provide lots of air flow.

I would be somewhat surprized though, if the two piece windows would fit easily in the one piece window frame. Take the two peice ones out first and you should be able to see what would be involved in installing them into your newer car....

Good luck with it...perhaps you should let us know what it looks like when you get the 2 peice windows out. I'd be curious.

I have a 69' 145S with the pop out rear side windows, and I agree with that other fellow that you get some serious flow through ventilation!

They look pretty cool too, Different anyway!

Not too many of them out there. They were usually only on cars with no A/C and a third seat. When open they create some serious flow through ventilation whenever you are moving. It would probably be worth putting them on your car if for no other reason than to be different. You can always switch back to the one piece if one breaks.
