binging 700 85

When ever I have the key in the ignition I get a binging sound coming from under the dash. the doors are all closed. It ins't as load or frequent as the door open bing. It is a slower bing. I can't get rid of it and it is driving me crazy.

thanks

scott

Re: binging 700 85

You either have a defective chime relay or a blown fuse.

The chime will act in this manner when certain fuses are blown.

Scott --

The chime is there to remind you that you've left the key in the ignition.

You can locate the chime and put several layers of tape over the sound hole. Then, even though it's muted, you can still hear it but it won't be as annoying.

it bings when the car is running...it bings at all times when the key is in the ignition.

Re: binging 700 85

That would drive me nuts, too. More than I already am, I mean.

I'd bet you have a defective binger, err, chime. It's supposed to receive a +12-volt signal from the ignition when you turn on the key, which should silence the chime.

Find someone with the same car and swap bingers, err, chimes. See if your car continues to ding or if it goes with the chime. This will tell you if it's a chime problem or a wiring problem.
