Just a quick plug for Brigestone. I put a set of Blizzaks on my 245 last year, just put them back on for this winter, and though I haven't compared directly with the Nokians or Michelins, they really work great. Many ski trips into the mountains last year, and I was truly amazed.

    Re: winter tires 200 all

They( Nokians) ride fine, but are noisier. They are superior in traction, and have a loger life becasue Alpines are not the same all the way down the tread. Alpine are the best I suppose, for the performance oriented, but I think thats not the point in winter weather, personally.

Price wise, I have found the Yokohama Guardex to be about the best all around. They are noisy, like the Nokians, have the same rubber composition, and are well balanced, having a decent lifespan. They are not quiet as good on ice, but are close. The price difference between the Nokians and Guardex is signifigant. 44$ a tyre, vs about 74$ a tyre. contact discounttires( Not tyrerack.)

I can get Nokians here for 80 dollars canadian but i work for michelin tire and can get arctic alpins for 60 dollars canadian, eventually settled on uniroyal tiger paw ice and snow which i got for 28 dollars each canadian with all my discounts.I have found the arctic alpins to be good in wet snow, ice, slush and glare ice but need something with lots of grip for my 83 glt with b23e and adjustable cam pulley and limited slip,i likes to break traction real easy it has lots of torque
