v6 engine used in other makes? ALL

The v6 ewngine used by Volvo in the late 70's and early 80's was designed by/for volvo fiat peugot. I know it was used in the short lived delorean cars. Did any one else actually use it besides Volvo?

    That engine is called the PRV V-6, because it was designed in a joint venture by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo.

    In the USA, find variations of that motor in...

    Peugeot 604

    DeLorean DMC-12

    Eagle Premier (Renault Design)

    Dodge Monaco (as above)

    The Eagle/Dodge version represents the ultimate refinement of the engine. It displaces 3 litres. Unfortunately, it is not a direct swap for the B27/B28/B280, as the fuel injection ports in the heads do not allow the use of the Volvo injection systems.

    This is not to say that it can not be done, because it HAS been done. BUT, one must swap the Renault/Chrylser injection, ignition, and accessory drive systems as well - what a nightmare!

    And there really is no good reason to try. If one had a PRV V-6 powered 260 or 760, and it was cherry enough to swap a motor into, the Volvo Turbo 4 cyl makes a relatively easy swap that is totally factory and more powerful than the PRV-6 - or there are several kits to swap in a Ford or Chevy V-8.

      There actually is one nice PRV powered car, to...donīt know if the Peugeot 605 was sold in the US but the V6 was a whole new world compared to the terrible Volvo setup. Three liters, 170 hp/12 valve or 200 hp/24 valve and a not that bad fuel consumption.

      Add Renault R30 to that sorry list of crappy cars. I always liked the puko twin carb setup- one little one to drive on, one big one to go.

        was the R30 ever sold in the US? I don't recall that one...

          Dunno. I'm in the great white north. If you never got the R30, consider yourself lucky.
