Squeaking sound 700 85

Squeaking sound from engine when cold.

When engine is cold, below 10 degrees celcius

I can hear a sound. I dont know what to call that

sound but something like a squeak.

After driving for about 10 minutes the sound is

gone.

I have changed the tree belts and the waterpump.

What could it be?????

Maybe the timing belt or the tensioner.

Or could it be the engine mounts?

Re: Squeaking sound 700 85

It could still be your belts slipping. Yes, believe me. If you check your timing and cannot read the timing mark because it seems to be dancing all over the place, it means that your harmonic balancer is separating and the outter piece that the belts ride on could be moved with the engine off. I've read on many occasions that this happens. It is a bit strange that the squeek you talk about only shows up at extreme cold temps, though. At any rate, check to see that your harmonic balancer is not separated and therefore needs replaced. Then, repost and let us know.

My 740GLE is a Swedish version and includes an B230E engine.

This engine is not supplied with an harmonic balancer.

Thanks for your reply
