Mystery Hoese under rear deck 200 80

Inside of my trunk I noticed there are some clear yellow tinted hoses that are on either side of the trunk just below the rear deck. What do these do?? I also was wondering why my rear "demister" may not be working. There dont appear to be any cracks in the brown eletrical wires in the window. What could it be..the fuse is ok I belive since the overdrive runs on this one as well.

Any Ideas here??

thanks

Adam

Re: Mystery Hoese under rear deck 200 80

Adam,

The hoses under the rear deck are drain hoses for the rear drain holes in your sunroof. The front 2 drain holes go down the pillars on either side of the windshield to the front fender/door jamb area. If you disconnect the rear hoses or if they are damaged, you will get a wet trunk! I like to flow check the drains every few years by putting a small amount of water in the trough around the sunroof when it it open. If all is well you will see water flowing through the rear hoses and out of the fender area fo rthe front hoses.

"...for the rear drain holes in your sunroof."

If you notice on sedans there are vents inside the car above the rear shelf. there are also vents outside at the same location. this is how the car is vented. the hoses drain away any moisture that collects in the metal channel between the inside and the outside.

you look at this and then you wonder why Volvo designed the 25 amp location the way they did, or the licence plate lamp holders that chip the paint when you remove them to change the bulbs, and the .......
