Shifting of transmission 200 1987

I have a 1987 240 DL with 225,000 miles on it. Under hard accelaration when the car shifts it seems as though the car shifts or makes a twisting motion. Is this because a motor mount or transmission mount is possibly broken? I have never changed either. I appreciate any information.

Re: Shifting of transmission 200 1987

    Roy --

Sounds more like worn rear suspension bushings, particularly the trailing arm bushings. As the torque load varies, the rear end shifts a bit. This can steer the car from the back.

But, depending on the service history, the motor mounts, tranny mount, and front suspension (including ball joints) could also need attention. These will all influence the "tightness" of the car.
