oil pressure gauge 200 82

I pulled a set of gauges from a 240 junker. I'd like to put them in my 240. The oil pressure gauge is electrical. I'm trying to figure out if I need a different oil sending unit than the one that runs the idiot light that is standard in my car.

Also what is the gauge that is called "Bar" water temp?

Thanks for any help.

If you can't get the sending unit from the car you got the gauges from, try http://www.continentalimports.com/. Also, there is a 3 bar gauge and a 5 bar gauge, and they use different sending units, so make sure you get the correct one. If you need instructions on installing the gauge, click here.

Good luck.

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

Paul --

Try to get the oil sender from the same car you scrounged the gauges, and also get the 45-degree elbow normally between the sender and the block.

"Bar" stands for barometric pressure (1 bar is roughly 15 psi). THAT gauge is the oil pressure gauge.

Now I'm curious — your posting suggests you know about oil pressure gauges, and you say you have one. Then you ask about this mysterious "bar" gauge. Which gauge did you originally think was the pressure gauge?

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

I was looking at the gauge that said oil. Further inspection leads me to believe that gauge is for oil temp. Is there a sending unit for that? My manuals don't show wiring for the gauges.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

Paul --

I'd say that Michael and Chevy nailed it — you have an oil temp gauge, too. Those are definately NOT stock, and are somewhat rare. The oil pressure gauge is more common because it is found in every turbo car. If you can get back to the donor car try to get the sending unit, which is probably integral with the oil drain plug.

I believe the Haynes manual shows the wiring for the auxiliary gauges, but it would be an "addendum" schematic on the right margin of the main schematic.

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

The sending unit for the oil temp is a drain plug that has a sender which replaces your current drain plug. There was an oil temp gauge in both celcius (P/N 1129316-4) and farenheit (P/N 1188814-0).

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

The oil temp probably isn't an original gauge (at least I don't think it was ever OEM). The sender for the temp would probably be where the original sump plug was.

Re: oil pressure gauge 200 82

The gauges have Volvo marked on them. Three gauge set oil pressure, oil temp, and volts.

Thanks
