Many thanks for the help recieved,I have managed to get the d*mn thing out after a lot of trouble .It is now dead ,not sick but dead.It is no more,it has ceased to exist.I have replaced it with a good but cheap[£20]unit .I am now using the old one for a door stop ,and what a good job it does too.

It's funny how that sketch has worked it's way into the popular culture. You could have gone on a bit more though, nudge nudge, wink wink. Oh! Say no MORE! (;=)
