replacing AC knob with switch 200 89

Is it possible to replace the AC knob from an '89 with a toggle switch from a '91? The knob is annoying and the switch would be much easier to deal with...

Thanks!

The rotary switch is also a thermostatic switch. It's used to cycle the compressor. If you change to a rocker switch, the compressor will run all the time and probably freeze your evaporator.

You have a different control circuit. However, in the olded days the rotary switch was placed under the dash, and a rocker switch was used on the dash. I'm sure you could do that, or just leave the rotary switch where it is and add a rocker beside it. You would meed an on/off switch cut into the green wire going into the rotary switch.
