what engine is it, 23F or 230F 200 1984

This even sounds dumb to me but, what engine does a 1984 240 GL have in it? I was looking for the compression ratio but I don,t know if it is a 23F or a 230F. What is the main difference between the two???

The 1983 and 1984 models were B23's a nd the 85 and later were B230's.

The B230 is a lower friction evolution of the B23. Many parts are interchangeable between the two. The B23 is actually heavier and it could be argued it is more "overbuilt".
