Soundproofing. 700 88

Does anyone have any good knowledge of soundproofing the cockpit of a Volvo or any other car? Is there some sort of foam that can be used? Something CHEAP? I'm asking specifically for my girlfriends Triumph, but it can apply to noisy Volvos too, mine especially.

soundproofing the floorboard or the engine compartment?

I just soundproofed my engine comp. and firewall with flameretardant

foil coated buble-wrap. looks awesome.. the car purred before, now

I can't even tell if it's running or not ;-)

also acts as insulation, so warm-up time is greatly reduced.

I think IPD sells a similar product in the form of a "hood quiet kit",

but that's just for Volvo's ;-)

at the hardware store... was labeled for use around furnace and

water heater.. so on and so forth.

it only cost me $7 (compared to IPD's $50)

It really smells bad, but this won't matter in the TR, you can buy the truck bed liner at Wal-Mart, the ruberized stuff, and brush it on. That will do the trick for sound deadning, then put the carpet pad and carpet back in. We did it to a friends cherokee, load POS and it really helped quiet it down

Good luck

DynaMat comes to mind, but that stuff certainly ain't cheap. Find it at car stereo shops and auto-supply stores.

More importantly, your g-friend drives a Triumph?!! That's awesome. Does she have a sister?... :o)

1971 Spitfire. It's actually mine but she pays the insurance and the parts. I don't get paid, or...

Anyways, she gets the credit.
