TB + high idling issue when cold 700 1987

I cleaned my TB on Sat. I fired the car up afterwards, drove it around, all seemed fine.

This morning when I went out to crank it at 25 degrees outside, idle jumped to 1500rpm for a while and then finally backed off to about 850.

I suspect the heater blower or something jacked it up. I know the car has a new heat control valve.

Is this high idle when below freezing a normal occurrence?

    maybe, probably not.

quite likely your aic valve is clogged or the motor commutator is worn/burnt.

You can try pulling and cleaning the aic valve with carb cleaner. OTOH, if it is clean and easily works, chances are it's a goner.

Had to replace the one on my 87 760T at 140K miles, I think somewhere back in 1997. Car has 210 K on it now and idles fine in startup/cold weather.
