Intermittent starting fault 900 1991

My B200FT has developed intermittent starting problems. I've changed the ignition leads, distributer cap and rotor arm. I took it to a specialist who only changed the fuel filter but the problem has persisted. The problem appeared to begin after I disconnected the coil to run the engine on the starter motor after an oil change. I've checked the OBD fault codes but it seems fine (jetronic system-the published codes only seem to be for the fuel system, are there any codes for electrics etc?).

Any ideas?

Re: Intermittent starting fault 900 1991

Describe the starting problem eg. do not start but cranks or doesn't crank at all. If there is no cranking at all most probably there is poor/intermittent contact with the motor starter. It has to be connection to the starter motor since the problem starts after that. Hope I help.

Re: Intermittent starting fault 900 1991

It cranks over but doesn't fire. After jiggling the coil lead a bit, it fires up, hence my suspicions that the coil may be at fault.

Re: Intermittent starting fault 900 1991

Maybe it's the lead itself that got damaged when you unplugged it and plugged it back in. Also make sure the connections are clean.
