Warning lights 200 83

I've got an '83 244GLE that had a interesting problem develop today. The batt, handbrake, brake and globe blown warning lights all lit up and flash sometimes. the oil warning light didn't come on, yet lights up if the engine is off but the key is in running position.

Since the fact that the oil light isn't coming on implies that the ignition switch "startup check" is ok, but that there's something else wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Warning lights 200 83

Sounds like the small red wire on the back of the alternator is intermittently shorting and/or breaking contact. The small wiring harness which runs from the grey plug on the driver's side firewall down under the intake manifold and crank to the oil press. and alternator sensors is likely at fault. I replaced this entire branch of the harness on my car with fresh wires running in conduit across the firewall and down the fender. Took about 2 hrs.
