When is the condensor fan supposed to run? 700 91

Hi,

91 740 Turbo B23FT w/5-speed. Just wondering if anyone knows when the electric fan in front of the condensor is supposed to run. Is it supposed to run only by engine temp. or when the A/C compressor runs also? I just changed my radiator and the temp. sensor that plugs into the radiator and haven't noticed the fan come on yet. It's getting a little cool now (South Carolina) but it doesn't come on with the A/C like I thought it would. Thanks for any help.

    The electric fan on that car is more of an emergency measure and not a regular part of keeping the engine cool or a/c pressures within range. The fans on electric fan only cars run a lot.

    The temp of coolant has to get to 225 F or more for coolant temp to trigger it and a/c high side pressure has to get to 250-260 psi.

    The water has to hit a certain temperature, regardless of A/C running or not. In seven years, I don't think mine has come on more than a couple times - and I live in Hotlanta. Stop and go traffic is where you might experience it.
