Which motor came in..... ALL

Which motor came in the 1983 240? The one with jetronic f-i. And is this a good motor? Is it strong and capable of handleing more hp than the b230f? I have the chance to buy one at a good price and my 1985 b230f is gonna die any day soon, will this motor fit in my 85 740 with no mods?

Thanks for any help

ryan

Re: Which motor came in..... ALL

What country are you in? US had an LH electronic injected B23F, Canada

had K-jet mechanical injected B23E or carbureted B21A, Europe had all sorts of mechanical or electronic injected B-19-21-23 or carb versions of the same. As far as using it in your 85, It will bolt in but there are injection differences between the B23 and B230 which could be overcome but might not be worthwhile.

Re: Which motor came in..... ALL

Good engine, b23F.

The problem you will have is that the head has no provision for your distributor. You can use a 1985-88 240 distributor and rewire your 740 harness to reach a block mounted distributor.

The accessories (a/c, p/s, alternator) will interchange but there will be some adapting that will need to be done.

Re: Which motor came in..... ALL

I live in the us so I guess that it isnt fuel injected.

Also are you saying that I cant use the head from my 85 w/rearmount distributer in the 83 240 block?

Re: Which motor came in..... ALL

The '83 240 should have a fuel injected b23f (LH 2.0). I'm not sure about the head swap, but it would take care of the distributer location problem for sure.
