745 rear defrost outlets? 700 88

I seem to have one outlet besides each of the rear wagon windows. Are these for defrosting those windows? Are they supposed to blow when the defrost vents are on? They don't really do anything.

I think they allow air through when closing doors, then the air exits through small vents in wheel wells to the outside. This makes it easier on doors, seals, sunroof, etc. when closing doors.

I could be wrong.

The vents are not for defrosting as there is nothing that connects to the them on the underside of the panel. Probably some kind of flow through ventilation deal thing.
