freeze plug leak 200 1986

Have a 110v freeze plug block heater that has started to leak. As I don't remember when the last time I used the heater, I am wondering if there is an easy way to remove the heater and seal the freeze plug opening.

/// Metal replacement freeze plugs simply require space to tap the correct sized plug in to the hole. If the placement of the hole is such that you cannot get to it to tap it in there are rubber sealed plugs with a bolt in the center to expand the rubber gasket.

Why not first try to tightnen the bolt holding in your plug? Yes replacing a freeze plug is easy but first the old one has to come out. Then the hole needs to be clean and last you need room to swing a hammer. I would look at replacing the rubber sealing washer and reusing the heater plug. I think that would be easier then using an all metal plug.

New freeze plugs should be available at your dealer for cheap.

      But not available anyplace else...

I had one "rust" from the outside...

front left and the only thing I could hit wat the distributor/

power stearing pump/intake with the hammer...

I installed block heater (Katz brand) and it works fine...
