I'm a looking at buying an older Volvo and was hoping you all might be able to help. Today I looked at '91 245 with 152,000 miles. It has leather seats and is in exellent condition. Asking $5500.

Does this sound reasonable? What are some suggestions for things I should be asking about regarding this model if anything?

It does appear to have pretty new tires and engine was spotless.

Well, I couldn't give my 1991 240 wagon away at $5500 last time I tried to sell it. That's with new tires, ALL up-to-date service (T-belt NEW, new water pump, thermostat, all new shocks, balljoints, trans fluid, coolant, synthetic axle fluid, new brake fluid, all new BRAKES, even new circuitry for the temp gauge).

What's more, it's got ABS and a Pioneer CD with cerwin-vega speakers all around. And nobody would bat an eyelash at a car with Volvo alloys, excellent body, 120,000 miles, new 134 A/C. In short, everything imagineable. A 3rd seat, even. So instead I held onto the car and I'll just get keep it as a spare once I get a newer one.

I also caught your question about the A/C compressor. It appears as if $350 would be a good discount because mostly you can find compressors on the aftermarket for good prices. The A/C kit for the conversion is about $60. Refrigerant is a few bucks more. SO factor everything in and $350 is prolly a decent discount if you can get an A/C shop that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg.
