license plate lights 700 1986

I need to know how the license plate lights come out so I can replace one that I burned out.

Here in NY u need them for inspection, and the previous owner broke the other one replacing that one

So I want to be careful with the remaining on intact.

I can see tabs on both sides, when I remove the plastic "sill" by the trunk latch, but I don't want to

Force them the wrong way, or I'll be replacing both of them.

thanks

Re: license plate lights 700 1986

It's hopeless...the metal tab/spring clip on the plastic tit rusts and when you try to take out the light assembly the clip is gone/breaks.

I just get new ones every 8-10 years or when I have to replace the license plate lights (which works out to about 8-10 years).

Re: license plate lights 700 1990

it's not too easy. When i tried to replace mine i ended up breaking them both. i think that water gets in behind them and rusts the clips out. I would spray it down with wd-40, and gently tilt the front down untill the clips undo them selvs. i found used ones off of a 86' 240, they were the same as the ones on my 90 760, good luck!!
