Turbo Wheels 200 1989

Does anyone have the wheels that come off the old turbos in the late 80's and early 90's or know anyone who has them?

    They are a bit hard to find at the salvage yards, but I just bought three for $10 each last weekend (not show quality, but hey, you get what you pay for!). You can try a Volvo specialist yard (at $100 each at one of the places down here) or Voluparts in Atlanta has them for about $200 each (but they are in prestine condition). A beautiful set on ebay sells for around $300 (otherwise they go for about $150). Good luck!

      What kind of condition did $10 buy you? I bought a set of 4 w/o tires on ebay for $115 (no s&h, picked them up), but two had dents, one had curb rash almost all the way around, and they had been spray painted and partially stripped. I put several hours of labor into cleaning, stripping, wet sanding, hammering out dents, and painting, and they look really nice. Too bad their still waiting for tires. I also grabbed a replacement off ebay for $60 that was dent free with one scratch, and it had been refinished. The best part is that all 5 wheels I've bought came with center caps, and I now have 7 total! (sorry, they're not for sale)

        Not too bad. A little bit of curb damage, but they are a HUGE improvement over the badly flaking aftermarket wheels the previous owner put on. Let's put it this way... for $10 each, I'm very happy (but if I paid $100 each, I wouldn't be as happy). I'm sure that if I cared enough, I could get them fixed (I don't care that much, by the way...).

    There's an abandoned GL with Turbo wheels on the Wilbur Cross Pkwy right here in Connecticut. I've been trying to figure out how to find the owner all day. I need 4 more Turbo rims myself so that I can mount snow tires on them.

    Reid,

    I have four nice ones that I'll be offering for sale at the Volvo open house in New Jersey this weekend. My advice to a prospective buyer of 240 rims is to 1. make sure they're round (5-spoke designs aren't the sturdiest), 2. try to see them with the tire off/bead broken (to check for corrosion) 3. make sure they're 15" (IPD used to sell 14" copies) 4. if you buy a pair, find that rare tire shop (I'm not kidding) that can mount and balance tires w/o damaging the rim - they have a unique offset that won't fit many tire machines.

    The Turbo wheels are very popular and can be found on ebay, ipd classifieds as well as right here on the Brickboard Classifieds.

    Those are 240 Turbo mags, available through 1985 on the turbo 240s.

      I'm also looking for a decent set of rims, but haven't looked seriously yet. They only came in "15 though. I've never heard or seen the IPD version. On the late model 240's, there are some cool 14" alloys that you may like, and wouldn't have to buy tires. Probably a lot harder to find, though. I have just 10,000 on my new tires and now want the turbo rims! Oh, well.
