Transmission shift point 900 91

I have a new to me 1991 940 234f wagon with auto trans with o.d. My feeling is the transmission shifts out of 1st too soon. ie 2000 rpm/15 mph.

Can this be corrected or will the car always be under powered off the line?

Re: Transmission shift point 900 91

If you look on the side of the intake just below the throttle cable spool, you will see another cable with a orange rubber seal on it. This is the trans throttle cable. Loosen the lock nuts on this cable and adjust the nuts to have less threads on the cable side (front) and more threads on the cable housing side (rear, towards firewall).

This will hold out shifts to a higher road speed. Try a movement of less than 1/4 inch change on this adjustment and then drive it a day or two and see if that is more satisfactory.
