squeak outside the car pressing the clutch 200

I have always noticed in recent years that when pressing the clutch I can hear a "squeak", a creak about halfway/end of the stroke.
I hear it outside the car, it doesn't seem to be something related to the pedal joint itself: you can't hear it at all inside.
I still don't know the car at all, I admit, but "by feeling" in the direction of the clutch pedal looking under the car there is a large spring about 10/15cm long in tension: I wouldn't swear to it but the noise I hear, if I open the window, seems to be from that area.

Can you give me input on this, both what to check and if this spring actually has something to do with it?

look at the piece of firewall where the cl cable passes through. i've seen a few crack from the stress.

it, on my poor knowledge of this car, seems ok.
the "squeak" is something that seems related to springs or similar and if I could hear it in the car, I'll be quite sure is something under the dashboard. Do I have some springs/joints I can check "outside" the car?

If it turns out not to be the external spring on the clutch yoke then check the spring on the pedal assembly. As much as I'd expect you to be able to sense it happening at the clutch pedal, it is an annoying squeak that I've had there in the past. The pedal assembly is buried behind the underdash panel and attached to the firewall so it's possible that's misleading you where it's coming from. With a good light, look at the clutch pedal and the return spring for the pedal. Using a slot screwdriver, pry the tails of the springs over just a little bit away from the frame. Does the squeak change? If so then you know that's it. The spring will likely soon return to its original position and start squeaking again. I pried it over and applied some grease to the contact area. I vaguely recall having to repeat that occasionally until the noise finally decided to stay away.

Is this the spring to which you refer?

This is the return spring for the clutch fork.

You could temporarily unhook it and see if the squeak goes away. I'm guessing it won't but it's the easiest thing to check. Some people will say it's not needed but it is there for a reason. Don't leave it disconnected.

There is a rubber damper and steel washer at the end of the clutch cable. You can see them in the diagram below. What condition are they in?

I doubt if it's the cable itself but I have used Tri Flow spray lube in the sheath to free up a stiff cable, not that it was squeaking, though.

Bear with me, I haven’t thought about clutches in depth for a long time…:)
Is the spring part of the clutch linkage? Meaning the parts that connect the clutch pedal to the transmission? My best guess is the spring is indeed part of linkage. Stepping on the clutch pedal engages or disengages the clutch. The spring is compressed when you step on the pedal and moves the throw out bearing so you can shift gears.

You could try lubricating the pedal linkage and spring carefully to see if that stops the noise. Do NOT get any lubricant on the throw out bearing or clutch disc and pressure plate inside the transmission. Just lubricate the linkage/assembly parts between the clutch pedal and the transmission. The linkage or the spring might be noisy and need lubrication.
