Cluster lights go out along with right side tail and parking lamps 200 1988

Fuse pops for that circuit. Cluster gauges work but not lights. Headlights work and left side lamps works as well. It's like I have a dead short in that circuit. disconnected front and rear RH lamps assemblies with no change. Headlights work fine. cleaned all grounds. I recall there is a relay for the lights that cooks but that would usually take out the headlights. This is just the right side and cluster lights. The headlight switch is just copper plates. Disconnected the dimmer as well with no change. It's a 5 speed and the shifter bushings were just replaced . Wondering if this has something to with it now as I have checked all the usual suspects?

    Hi Joe,

To clarify, you are blowing Fuse 16 ?
After unhooking the rheostat does it still blow fuse 16?

    Bill

        Hi Joe,

The website is gagging badly here, put a direct email and it will be faster.

Can you find connector F in the center console?
It's for the seat belt and ashtray lights. Unplug it.
Then with fuse 16 out measure from where the green wire hooks to fuse 16
to ground with your ohm meter on it's lowest scale.

See if it's open or shorted.

        Bill
