Strapping down a 240 onto a flatbed for hauling question 200

Are there recommended strap down point or loops on the underside of a 240? I am needing to haul a 240 wagon about 100 miles on a flatbed trailer and want to make sure it is chained or strapped in the correct places so it doesn't come loose and roll off the trailer while being hauled. Thank you for any recommendations!

My preference would be ratcheting tie downs over the wheels.

If memory serves, there were originally factory transport hooks, either a metal eye or a heavy plastic one, same as used on the later 700/900s. I was once told the plastic hooks were often removed by dealer service during prep as they weren't designed for use by tow trucks.

Strapping down a 240 onto a flatbed for hauling question 200

When my friend rented a u-haul trailer, it came with 4 web tire baskets used to hold the wheels down to the trailer.

Aren't cars meant to bounce when they go over bumps?

The tie-down points mentioned in the other members post are below the springs, hence that car will bounce.

If you do a search, Motor Trend advises tire baskets or straps attached below the springs, letting the car bounce.

Advice on this matter varies, but I like Motor Trend's write-up.

When I say bounce I mean the tires not on the trailer deck. Sorry for the confusion

When we moved a few years ago our son trailered our 1988 240. He secured it from the control arms and the rear axle. You want to secure forward and to the rear of the trailer. The idea is to keep it from bouncing. It was a 400 mile trip and no issues.

Thanks much for replying. Can I assume the trailer tie down locations were out front and to the side of the control arms in front, and out and behind the car's rear axle, thus keeping the car from moving forward or backward in addition to limiting bounce while in transit?

If the 240 had factory installed tow/anchor loops in front and back, tying one to a trailer for hauling would certianly be more straight forward, but I've not heard of any 240s having them, which seems rather peculiar since the 240 was in production for a long time.
