940, 256,000 miles. I have posted here on the valve clatter I sometimes get on a cold startup. My mechanic confirmed that the valves are correctly adjusted. He also opined that the rubber "valve hushers" do not last long and are not worth installing. He is unimpressed with the valve noise, and says it is much quieter than others he has heard. However, he has only heard mine when it is warm.

Has anybody tried the Liquid Moly product I saw on the FCP site? Or alternatively can I conclude that a little infrequent valve noise is harmless? Maybe I am making too big a deal out of this. Thanks as always.

    Get the Volvo OEM hushers. I had to pull the head, warped from prior owner overheats. Use the husherd. Hushers, vakves not clacky good 20+ yeas on. I use Mobil 1 10W40 or 15W50.

    Else, nothing to my knopwledge3 quiets the valve clatter of failed hushers.
