Im having multiple probelms .I cleaned thbe throttle body & it seemed to be running good for a day,,then it went back to stalling out at low speeds,,cutting out after accelewration,,After I installed a new cat & wires for a relay harness Ive had nothing but problemsThank God im retired otherwise Id have to junk it,

Possibly a flaky or misadjusted TPS (most likely) or a dirty/sticky IAC valve. Make sure the electrical connectors on both are fully seated. Do not set the TPS click on the hairy edge. Misadjusting the linkage rod or throttle cable can affect TPS operation.

Ok Ill go over everything once more,,I did brush all the grounds I could find.Didnt see any corrosion or rust but It worked better after all!

Doesn't take much oxidization of aluminum alloy terminal connectors to spoil old grounds. For ground connections, consider using DeoxIT D-series grease or Ox-Gard (found in hardware store electrical supply sections) on the cleaned up mating surfaces for improved contact and long term protection. For non-ground connections, copper and multi-terminal connectors, use non-conducting dielectric silicone grease (like Permatex Sil-Glyde ignition grease). A Volvo Service Tech Advisory actually called for periodically cleaning and re-packing the female sockets of fuel injection system connectors with dielectric grease to keep out moisture (like the AMM, IAC, TPS, CPS and injector connectors, but not the O2 sensor connector), also sealing inside the rubber boots. I also wipe inside ignition wire boots, a) to keep out moisture and b) to make the boots easier to remove. Done properly, you can pretty much shoot water with a hose sprayer in the entire engine compartment and restart without a hiccup.

thanks,,Im going to replace the fuwel pump as I have an extra &Ive been spraying starter fluid down the throttle boddy & it triesd to start,,,so maybe at the same time the pump went>>??

Hi,
About the throttle body linkage (this is like a summary)
1) set your TPS first (this in FAQ). If your TPS is working nicely all this while then leave it as is.
2) unhook the old throttle linkage
3) compare the overall length of new to old linkage
4) adjust length of new linkage to match the old linkage (use size 6mm spanner for the adjustment nut)
5) hook new linkage in
6) look at the throttle spool's idle stop, it shouldn't rest in contact, there should be 0.10mm gap (use feeler gauge). If not then re-adjust throttle link's length or adjust throttle cable's slack
7) if you need to readjust as in item 6) then you also need to check for transmission click at wide open throttle
8) with engine off, get someone to floor the gas pedal in car. Listen for transmission click (need a quiet moment here). If there is click then its ok. If no click then adjust transmission cable's slack as needed.
NB: You could unhook the transmission cable off the throttle spool and fully pull it repeatedly to familiarize yourself with the "click" sound

The linkage rod is connected and adjusted after suitably adjusting the throttle body idle stop screw and the TPS throttle position switch.
You then adjust the linkage rod so that when in the closed position there is a small amount of slack in the linkage rod when the throttle is closed.
The actual adjustment spec from the Volvo Technical Bulletin is as follows:
Re-mount the throttle body. Connect and adjust the linkage rod.
o For a B230F on a 740/940 and for all B230FT, insert a .10" feeler gauge at the throttle spindle stop tab (not the idle stop screw). Adjust the linkage rod so that the throttle begins to open and the TPS click is heard then adjust it back to the point where the closing click is just heard and secure the rod adjusting nuts.
o For a B230F on a 240 use a .08" feeler.
o For later B234F use a .13" feeler (for early '89 production B234F's w/auto trans use .06").
After adjusting the linkage rod you then adjust the throttle cable and shiftdown cable.

Hope you're well and stay so. I presume you ask about the throttle pulley on a B230F engine, i.e., one that is non-turbo.
Do you wish to know how the cables (e.g., kickdown, throttle, etc.) should be attached to the throttle spool? Or, do you refer to the rod, that connects the throttle spool to the throttle body?
As to the former, the throttle spool has three pulleys. The first pulley- that closest to the spool's mounting bracket - is empty. The second pulley is for the throttle (accelerator pedal). The third pulley (that furthest from the mounting bracket) is for the kick-down cable.
