clutch & Brake pedals needed 140-160

I'm fixin' on buying a 1967 144 with a BW35 automatic. To me , the automatic is not too desirable and I'd like to switch it out to a M40 manual in which I have in the garage. Would there be any tunnel modifications needed to do this ?
Most important...I'll need the clutch/brake pedal assembly ...if anyone has a set to sell let me know !

Around 1970-71 Volvo enlarged the tunnel on the 1800E and ES in order to accept the BW35 in addition to the already standard M41. My guess is that you’ll be OK there but I’m not sure if you’ll need a different crossmember to support the M41. I think you should find another set of threaded holes in the frame rails if the cross member needs to be relocated.

You’ll need to do something about the length of the front drive shaft.

It would be real nice if you could a donor car with all the proper bits and pieces.

Yeah, a donor car would be the way to go with you guys telling me that it's more of job than maybe I want to tackle at this point in life.
I appreciate all your input.

Check the parts manual to see if there are different part numbers; but, I think you may also need the steering column support which forms the 'pedal box'. Check GCPs web site which has an on-line version of the parts manual

Send an email to hiperformance auto service in Torrance Ca. They have access to a lot of salvage Volvo parts and can give you a direct answer on the tunnel width (I don't think it is a problem). If Hiperformance can't get you the pedals for you, probably nobody can get them.

Hello,

We've got the brake and clutch pedals for your 1967 140.

FYI, ONLY if you're planning on converting to an M41 overdrive transmission, will you need to get the correct transmission support bracket that bolts to the frame or you can modify your existing transmission support bracket.

If you're installing an M40 4 speed transmission, the crossmember for the BW35 is the same. However, if your BW35 is the early air cooled long tailshaft version, you will need a longer front driveshaft half.

I can't remember if the hole for the manual transmission shifter is already in the floor. I haven't seen an early 140 with an automatic transmission in quite a while.

If you're interested in the pedals, contact me via our website contact page using the address below.
