Need Exhaust Bracket 657783 444-544 1960

For my 1960 544 with a B16. I need the front exhaust bracket which I believe is PN 657783.
The one bolted to the inspection cover.
Mine has worn away a gap where the pipe must have vibrated against the bracket for years.
I don’t see it listed with any of the usual sources. I almost accidentally ordered the B18 bracket by mistake.
Any one have one to sell?

This is an important support bracket on the B16 as without it the exhaust manifold is prone to cracking. Yes they are often missing. Not needed so much with the B18 but they also have one as standard. A small plate welded in or just building up the worn area with weld should allow it to work again as it should.

We've never seen that bracket on any of our customers B16 equipped Volvos in almost 40 years of working on old Volvos.

I'll check some of my sources.

Eric, this is that barn-find PV I called you about a while ago. Original owner picked up at the factory and toured Sweden in it then drove it around the U.S. for 17 years, then it sat untouched in a barn after he parked it in 1977.
It is very original, even had the bars for the lay-flat seats option in the trunk, radiator blind in-place (but very rotted), etc.
So long story short I'd love to find a good OEM bracket if possible.
Plan B might be to use a piece of new metal to sort of bridge the gap across the flat so the the pipe would be clamped between the existing round bracket and the new piece, and the original bolts would probably still work to attach that 'sub-assembly' to what remains of the old bracket.
Plan C - someone good with welder (not me) could maybe try to fill new metal into the old bracket - but I'm afraid welding on it might destroy the old metal.
Thanks for looking into it, Eric!

Your posts got me curious, Phil. I can't at all remember how my 122S exhaust used to mount so I went looking to see what you were talking about. A bit of sleuthing turned up a couple of interesting references to the 657783 bracket that you and/or Eric probably already found, but I'll mention them here anyway.

There's a source in Sweden https://www.cvi-automotive.se with a catalogue listing that part with a schematic diagram that shows what it looked like https://www.cvi-automotive.se/upload/PDFcatalogues/pv_eng.pdf -see page 15. Whether or not they ever actually had that bracket in stock or could supply one now is a whole other matter, but it probably wouldn't hurt to ask. I imagine fashioning your own would be simplest and with a bit of effort cutting the profile angles could be made to look fairly stock. If you use a torch to help make the bend, a bit of extra braising as reinforcement probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

There's also mention of that part here in this old Volvo Service Bulletin on the UK Volvo Club site https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tsb55-60/Group602-NoA4.pdf with what looks like a slightly newer style mounting used on the later 120s that may be of slight interest to you. That must be the B18 mounting you're talking about. If those parts are more readily available, it strikes me it may be worth the effort to weld the mounting if you're going to be doing a bit of driving. Nicest thing about that mounting is the rubber bushings as a vibration and torque absorber.

Thanks for the research! I had found that CVI catalog PDF - that was how I found the part number. Those are very helpful references.
I plan to take it to a welding shop to see if they can fill in the gap and build up some weld and I can grind it smooth.
I can always swap it out if I find one in better condition someday. At least it is easy to get at!
