In tank fuel pump 900

Hello everyone,

I have a 1994 940 non turbo bosch system. I am changing the in tank fuel pump part # 3507436 and was wondering which aftermarket pump is best to use?

Thank you in advance!

Charles

I just purchased an Airtex E8778 (destined for a non-Volvo application) based upon the learned musings of our own Art Benstein at: http://cleanflametrap.com/transferPump.htm#_Airtex_E8778

B230 Regina - Bosch years 900

At the risk of yet again being proven wrong by select owners due to production anomilies, cars that may have been imported and engine swaps, for the North American market it went something like this:

940 B230FT turbos were all Bosch LH 2.4, a continuation of the final 1990-on 740 B230FT turbos with LH 2.4.

940 B230F NA started out as Regina in the early years and switched to Bosch LH 2.4 in 1995, with 1994 being a transition year with some LH 2.4 and some Regina (near as I can figure). In 740s and 240s, the B230F had LH 2.4 from 1989-on.

In the first 940 year there was also the 1991 B234F 16-valve that also used LH 2.4, like the preceding 1989-1990 740 GLE 16-valves.

Production years and variants for other markets may be slightly different.

Dear Blindboy,

Hope you're well. Volvo 940s sold in North American markets, if turbo-equipped, only came with Bosch fuel supply/engine management.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Ultimatecomponants @ Ebay.... Type In {340 LPH In tank high pressure electric fuel pump & kit 740} ...Two year warranty. I have one in my 740.
Screen /Wire/ Hose & Pump. Make sure to lubricate all sides of the rubber gasket on the locking ring. Mark the pump housing location. When installing the pump housing into the fuel tank, install the lubricated sealing rubber onto the housing but, slide it down about a 1\2/inch so you can slip the seal into the tank all around. New screen is a must do.

Dear Charles,

Hope you're well and stay so. See if you can find a pump made by VDO. Their part number is E22-041-017Z . VDO is an OEM supplier.

Replacing in-tank fuel pumps is a sufficiently unpleasant task, that one should use the very best part that one can find/afford.

Be sure to remove completely the rubber fuel filler hose. Complete removal will give you work room, that you'll need to move the fuel tank send unit, to which unit the fuel pump is mounted. Ask me how I know this!

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
