Ignition Lock Cylinder tumbler change 700

Hi,

Need some help figuring out how to change out the key tumbler in this lock assembly. What I read says to push in the small pin on the bottom about an inch from the key but it doesn’t push. See picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am fairly certain that the pin is pressed in to secure the assembly.

Remove enough of the metal surrounding the pin to take a sharp edged tool and pry the pin up.

Try turning the key to different positions and pushing the pin. Auxiliary also.

I have only two experiences with disassembling/reassembling ignition locks - one was a 1973 1800 and the other was a 2003 V70. Yours is looking to be more like the 1973 where you have to drill out the retaining pin. I could be wrong……

If you decide to try drilling it you should only have to drill to a depth equal to the thickness of the outer casing. That allows the tumbler to slide out. Any remaining piece of pin should fall out when you extract the tumbler.

I used some very small brass rod as a retaining ring when I reassembled it.

What does other (top) side of the lock assembly look like? Also, what is the other gizmo in the photo that kinda looks like a second pin?
