Replace rear 245 tailgate window with Lexan? 200 1993

I shattered the tailgate glass in my beloved 93 wagon. After calling 6 salvage yards and at least that many glass shops in the Raleigh NC area, I can't find new or used rear glass, or a used tailgate from 1990-93. Actually, any tailgate from any year.

I'm thinking of instead fitting and gluing(?) in a sheet of Lexan. Does anyone know of any 90-93 tailgates within a 6 hr drive of Raleigh, or have any thoughts about going the Lexan route?

I think you are on your own for this one. Nobody is going to second guess Volvo's design considerations for the rear windshield. No auto maker is using polycarbonate windows.

Optically, polycarbonate will make a much better window than an old garbage bag taped over the tailgate. The question is what happens when it breaks ?

If there really aren't anymore tailgate windows you may need to start looking at custom auto glass and see if they can help you.

You will be able to get rear glass made at a custom auto glass place. Glass isn't available for the majority of classic cars -- hence the existence of these custom-fit businesses. It won't be cheap, but will be much better than polycarbonate, which may even be illegal where you live.
