Seem to remember clogs happening on other models. Maybe it was 240’s or 850’s?? Agree with Spook. Don’t blow it out. Check for cracks. You could remove it and clean it or replace it.

      Dear Blindboy,

Hope you're well. Unless you see a diagnostic code specific to the EVAP (fuel vapor collection) system, DO NOT use compressed air - or any other gas - to try to clear the hose from the fuel tank send unit to the EVAP canister.

I do not recall a post reporting a blockage in the hose that connects the fuel tank to the evap canister.

      Yours faithfully,

      Spook

Plumbers silicon grease. Helps Keep the rubber from binding in which a false tightness occurs when not enough correct type of lube.

ON THE THREADS OF THE LOCK NUT??
i THINK i DIDNT HAVE IT PROPERLY SEATED,,iM THINKING THE ONLY PLACE FOR GAS TO LEAK OUT IS THE EDGE OF THE BODY OF THE PUMP?

Grease the rubber on all sides. I just had the same problem on my 740 volvo when replacing my In tank pump. Took several tries to get the rubber gasket to align properly. I finally had to place the gasket half way in the pump housing hole while dropping the pump in. Not the easiest job but, patience will get you there. Grease the threads also. Any binding will give a false tightening.

I use this oil filter wrench from IPD to loosen and tighten the lock ring of the fuel tank. Its a very limited space there thru that opening. Need a suitable tool. And I find this tool really helps. Ordered this from IPD to send to Malaysia around 10 years ago (along with VX cam).

No more hammering with block of wood.

No more hammering with flat blade screwdriver leading to chipped lock ring.

Use tool with two hands to initially loosen or finally tighten the ring. One handed use later to spin it off or on.

Those waste disposal tools would be suitable for the 200 series tanks which use an internal bung ring, but not for the 700/900 tanks. They use a large plastic collar lock ring on an outside thread. You need an outside grip wrench like the oil filter pliers that Amarin pictured. If you don't have access to something like that then I've always found a nice piece of hardwood used as a drift with a hammer gets the job done and won't damage the plastic if you tap around the notches a few times.

That's a common problem area and it often takes a couple of tries to get it properly sealed. The key is to have the face plate of the sender unit perfectly flush with the rubber collar gasket before threading on the lock ring and to keep it from moving while tightening. If needed, use nylon fishing line or a very stout thread looped down through one of the hose fittings to keep the barrel pulled back a bit while you bump it into initial alignment and thread the lock ring on -pull one end of the loop to remove it when done. Be sure to use a large SS screw clamp lightly tightened around the outside of the locking ring to help keep the plastic threads from jumping and stripping. Tighten the locking ring as hand tight as you can get it. Snug up the screw clamp a little bit more then use a hammer/drift or other tool to get a further approx. 1/8-1/4 turn out of the locking ring (depending on how hand tight you got it). Fully tighten the screw clamp. Make sure you start with all threads and surfaces clean. You can use a thin wipe of petroleum jelly on the threads if that helps things along.
