I am looking for a replacement for EVAP canister (1276694) for my brick. The purge valve has failed. This canister is no longer available from the dealer or online. I saw online an AC Delco 17113148 appears to be similar but it may not have a purge solenoid valve.

    Hi,

Did you try flushing the valve with denatured (wood) alcohol?
    I just might be dirty.
It supposed to stay closed until vacuum opens it under idle conditions as that is when the vacuum is the highest.
When the valve opens it then purges the canister of collected vapors.
So basically it a vacuum operated valve in the hoses.
Nothing to special for the way they built these smog systems or evacuation systems for that matter.

By it sticking open it can be a source of lean mixtures, or especially if, the hoses are rotten!

    Phil

If none of the major auto parts suppliers, NAPA for example, carry a vehicle specific canister perhaps calling around to auto repair shops or even smog test and repair shops would yield a source. Some states, like California, require pollution related parts to be state approved to pass smog inspections.
