Upper door trim clips 120-130

The upper door trim pieces on my 65 Amazon are falling off because the rivet/clip have rusted out. The clip & rivet parts numbers are 192458 and 959654.
The later on 69 and 70 Amazons used a plastic clip part number 679885.
Has anybody ever used these newer plastic clips instead of the metal/rivet combo that tend to rust?

You might try an auto paint/body parts shop - the one that I have gone to has a dizzying array of clips, hardware, etc.

If possible, bring the car and/or a piece of trim - they may have something that is appropriate for your car.

If you have to use the old style clips, consider spraying then with a good primer.

FYI, both styles of clips are easily available from Volvo.

And some of my suppliers usually have an economy versions.

Hello,

This is a case where Volvo didn't replace the part numbers when they updated a part.

Volvo updated the trims and clips in 1969. Volvo didn't change the part numbers for the new trims and the new trims have more of a curve for the plastic clips so you can't use the plastic clips unless you have the updated trims.

FYI, I just installed a full set of the early clips with Pop-Rivets 2 weeks ago on a customer's 1967 122.

Just in case there is any confusion here, these are the narrow trims below the front hinged opening rear side window on the 2 door cars.
