940 Windshield Clip Kit 900 1995

I am getting ready to have someone replace the windshield in my daughter's 1995 940. She hit a deer last November and the car hasn't been used since.
I have had a windshield "clip kit" in the past for the installer to use to replace the plastic clips holding the windshield in place but can't remember where I got it.
Can someone help me with a source for the clip kit?
Also, what are good windshield manufacturers? I remember having one that I wasn't happy with but can't remember the manufacturer. It has been several years since the last replacement.
Thank you.

    940 Windshield Clip Kit 900 1995

    Dear jd620,

Hope you're well and stay so. The clip is Volvo #1342004. It costs about $3 at a Volvo dealer. As the clip is available, I presume the kit also is.

The windshield is Volvo #6846651. I'd buy the Volvo brand item. A strong and durable windshield can be a life-saving item. On a rear window, strength is less important.

If that's not available, I'd avoid a China-made product. It isn't that Chinese glass-makers cannot produce first-class items. They can and do. But an aftermarket glass importer is likely to specify a lower-quality item, which - in a marketplace as large as is China's - someone will make such an item.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

      Hi Spook,

Last summer I bought a Chinese made glass for a 240 from a Safelite franchise. I installed it myself with much technical support from the manager who seemed very knowledgeable.

As you mentioned, there is a safety concern with glass so I asked him about it. He said that all auto glass imported and sold in the U.S. has to comply with DOT specs.

I know it doesn't prove anything, but this spring I've taken two rock hits on this windshield. One was a very solid smack in the middle of the passenger side, and the other low down on the driver side. Neither left any damage to the glass.

As to vision, it's crystal clear and so far I'm very happy with it.

      Regards, Peter

Thanks to Alll - 940 Windshield Clip Kit 900 1995

I found 10 on ebay, genuine Volvo, good deal. I'm hoping 5 survive when the windshield is replaced. I counted 15 on a junker 940 I have. It is difficult to remove the old ones with the windshield and caulk in place.
        The brickboard comes through again!!
        Thanks for the replies!!

I should have said that the clip kit is the plastic clips used to hold the mouldings around the windshield in place. The clips do not holding the windshield in place.

SKANDIX have the clips which fit along the bottom of the windscreen and hold the trim piece in place. This may be what you want.
I will try and post an image and a link
