EGR valve 900 1995

Is there a good place I can get one of these EGR valves. I broke one end off of this one trying to get the connector pipe off. It had been fossilized over the years and I had to break the rubber pipe apart to remove it. I was told that Volvo has discontinued the part by my local dealer.

In the interim I have taped everything together but I expect this will fall apart fairly quickly.

Chances are that the two stainless valves after this plastic valve no longer act as one-way valves. They are also no longer available.
If so the exhaust pressure presses exhausts back into the inlet, which will foul the parts in the inlet with carbon.
The pulse-air is easy to plug and this will not impact your performance.
Possibly not allowed in your area though.

I did manage to get a used one from Chapman's but I am yet to get it installed. I hope the one ways are still functioning! It is still running okay. Thanks for your note, Mila.

    PulseAir valve 900 1995

    Dear Muskox37,

Hope you're well and stay so. The part circled in your photo is the PulseAir valve (#3507160). It is indeed "No Longer Available" from Volvo. So, the best place to find one is a salvage yard.

The EGR valve is mounted on the driver's side of the engine, below and behind the oil trap, and so towards the firewall.

The two-branch black plastic hose, into which the valve fits, is Part #1266666. It is available from a US Volvo dealer for about $35.

    Hope this helps.

    Stay safe and well!

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Thanks for the clarification and the part numbers, Spook. I do have a pretty good Volvo parts yard nearby and I have asked them for help in finding one.

I am working through a number of snags on this 940. I have owned it off and on for about five years now and a couple of my buyers and loaners have abused it, I am sorry to say. It has been a good winter car and I am trying to get it back to that condition. Not pretty but solid.

        p.s. 900 1995

p.s. You can see the new rubber connector #1266666 already in place. I did get that part from the local Volvo dealer without any problem and it cost me $43.54 Canadian which is $34.37US. I swear the part replaced was original and is now in about ten pieces. Should have been more careful around the pulse air valve.

I also bought an ashtray light bulb, part number 3545170, because I had the centre console out to adjust the parking brake and I thought I would finish off the job right by getting the light working. I tested the original bulb and it did not light. It is a little elaborate but the price of $31CAN blew me away.

I know now that I did not have to remove the whole console but at the time I did not know that the entire black aft end of the console can be removed fairly easily. One lives and learns!

Thanks again for your valuable input. Always appreciated.

        muskox37
