FWIW - You can replace this pipe with a stainless one to avoid rust - STS Machining
O Rings need to be ordered separately though

Here is the link

Heater bypass hose out of the water pump 200 1991

Hi,

Where is the leak ? Mine have both times been by the weld on the bolt bracket directly under the header flange.

On one of them, I used JB Weld and ran it a couple of years before finding a good used one to replace it with.

fwiw---an example of repairs. Keep in mind that this is basically a Hot Water pipe.

When radiators were all Metal, the top and bottom Brass sections were soldered to the core. You could replace a leaking or clogged core by melting the solder and pulling the rad apart....New core new solder job.

A "lost art", a lost fix-it not replace it----Void Due to Plastic Rads.

Solder---https://www.nuclead.com/PDFs/2012/08/solder_420x280.jpg

So any holes in that metal heater pipe can be sealed with same. You've just got to get the metal around the hole or break clean---as in 'down to the metal'.

This is propane torch temps --- not welding.

If you are referring to the pipe that inserts into the back of the pump---that's the return line from the heater. The feed to the heater is under the intake manifold. As long as you direct the coolant into the pump it will work. Keep in mind the heat of the exhaust manifold. - Dave
