Wiper Transmission Linkage. Less mechanic labor for linkage including motor? 700

1990 Volvo 740 GL wagon. Better - worse - no difference - for my mechanic to replace the linkage and motor, in terms of labor, please. I found a used part that comes with the motor. I will ask him, but despite his working on such cars for 40 years, he has never done this kind of job, so I'm asking. Thanks.

Once you figure out how to remove the cowling below the windshield, removal and replacement of the wiper assembly with motor and linkage on a 700/900 is not difficult. The cowling is three bolts and a careful extraction pulling it up and back off the outer guide pins without scratching the paint. If you figure you're careful enough to not scratch the paint then definitely a DIY job, otherwise let your mechanic do it under fear of having to suffer your wrath and doing a paint touch up. It's not like a 240 where you have to crawl under the dash.
