1973 145 clutch pedal return spring 140-160

Quick question = does anyone have a clutch pedal return spring you'd be willing to sell me? I can paypal you $20 and you can drop it in the mail to FL.

Another quick question, if no one has the spring, does anyone have a pic of it installed, so I can order some music wire and try to duplicate it?

Long explanation = I scored the clutch/brake pedal for my 1973 145 locally, but it did not have a return spring on the clutch pedal. The catalog on gcp.se shows a return spring, but it's one of the few parts with no part number because it was a no-stock item. I found a pic on an old turbobricks post and it doesn't have a spring. VP autoparts is selling the brake pedal spring as the clutch spring. Heads up, if you need the clutch pedal spring, don't buy the spring PN 1206517 because that's the brake spring.

    1973 145 clutch pedal return spring 140-160

Just in case anyone comes across this thread while hunting for the clutch pedal spring for a Volvo 140, here's what I found:

    1) As several members pointed out, a few vendors in Europe sell it for very cheap, but the shipping (at this time) to the U.S. is prohibitively expensive.

    2) Removing it is an option, but I tried that and I feel that the clutch fork spring tension is a little too light for my personal preference.

    3) I ended up making my own spring from 1/8 music wire. I kept it simple, and the spring I made mimics the original, but you could get very specific and come up with your own coil count & angle to dial in the tension.

    I hope this helps.

I'm not in the US, but since the clutch return spring is easily available over here, I don't see why it wouldn't be where you live too.
677531 is the Volvo number you're looking for and it seems to have been used on several models ranging from the 120/Amazon right up to the 700 series.

The spring just attaches to the part of the clutch fork that sticks outside of the bellhousing (part 27 in the image):

Thanks for the reply, but 677531 is the throw out fork spring. I need the pedal spring. Here's a pic of one I bent up on some bail wire.

Ah that one, that took a while, but it looks like 675529, right?

For illustrative purposes here's a photo borrowed from another Volvo forum (and a familiar member). Looks pretty much the way you duplicated it. Edit: that looks like it's mirrored from your's (LHD vs RHD versions?).

Clutch pedal return spring DELETE IT 140-160

Reaching up & taking the spring off is one of the very first mods I did to my 140's. Later I threw it away when I pulled the pedal out to lube the bush.

Pros: Getting rid of the spring gets rid of the random amout of free travel from the pedal. The clutch fork return spring(27) is plenty strong enough to hold the pedal up.

            Cons: None that I know of, I 1st did it in 1987 & I can't see a downside.
