Low oil pressure warning light

The oil pressure gage has a warning light in the lower left corner. With my engine running and good oil pressure, the light illuminates continuously. Any suggestion where I should look to correct this issue? In addition, none of my dash panel lights work regardless of how high I turn the reostat knob. I checked one of the accessible 2W bulbs and it was good.

    Low oil pressure warning light

Dash lights on same fuse as your malfunctioning courtesy lighting, fuse #10 near as I can tell, so very suspicious. May or may not be related to the oil light stuck on, but I suspect there may be something else wrong there, like maybe a broken oil pressure sensor wire shorting to ground on the block or chassis or even at the gauge?

Low oil pressure warning light malfunction

Thanks for the tip. Looking at the wiring diagram from the oil pressure sensor #30, it appears that there is only one black wire to the oil pressure gage #68 and that supplies the power to the low oil pressure warning light #22. If there is a short, shouldn't that affect the oil pressure reading which is presently reliable? Maybe the diagram line isn't representing only one wire but two? I guess I'll have to contort my body and crawl under the dash and visually check the back of the gage.

Low oil pressure warning light malfunction

        Hello,

A shorted oil pressure warning light wire won't affect the oil pressure gauge.

The oil pressure gauge is a mechanical gauge and has oil pressure running directly to back of the gauge. The warning light is connected to a sender/sensor.

Low oil pressure warning light malfunction

Eric, You placed me in the right direction. The wire to both the oil temp and oil pressure is capsuled in a single plastic sheath. I was able to cut through the now baked sheath and determine which wire was the low oil pressure line (black). Discovered that the black wire was fried from the close proximity to the exhaust manifold. After detaching it from the sensor, I cut it off close to the electrical fitting that services both the oil temp and low oil pressure leads and made a new wire to extend from that point to the block sensor. Low oil pressure light on the dash oil pressure gage now lights when the motor is off and goes off when pressure is established. Gage and sensor are now verified as OK. Thanks,
