Taper thread on cylinder head heater outlet?

I'm just dismantling a B230F from a 945. On the cylinder head the heater hose connection is a steel fitting at the rear of the head next to the flame trap. This fitting was very stiff to remove, and on examination it appears to have a taper thread? It is very difficult to screw back into the aluminium head.
Am I correct in thinking that this fitting has a taper thread?
Thanks
Ian F

I'm just bumping this up the list in case anyone of you can help with my enquiry?
Thanks in anticipation!

I am going to just take a wild guess and say it could possibly be a standard tapered pipe thread. Pick up a threaded nipple at Home Depot to test my guess.

You guessed right. The thread on my 398 head (B23F from '83) is 3/8-16 NPT.

Did you know actor Raymond Burr had a brother who was a lumberjack? His name was Tim.

Many thanks for these replies. I was a little concerned - steel thread into an aluminium head, and ver stiff to remove and replace. I feared I had destroyed the threads in the head.
It looks as if the steel insert had been sealed with some sort of white plumbers compound. I guess I will do the same when I replace it permanently.
Thanks again,
Ian F
